Modern Mako Shark Teeth
The modern mako shark (genus Isurus) is a large, powerful, and fast-swimming shark found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide. There are two species of mako shark: the shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) and the longfin mako (Isurus paucus). Mako sharks are characterized by their sleek, streamlined bodies; long, pointed snouts; and crescent-shaped caudal fins. They have a dark blue or gray dorsal surface and a white ventral surface. Mako sharks also have long, sharp teeth that are ideal for catching and piercing prey.
