Oceanic whitetip sharks are distinguished by their long, wing-like pectoral and dorsal fins. The fins are significantly larger than most other shark species and are conspicuously rounded. The shark’s snout is rounded and its eyes are circular, with nictitating membranes. The body of the oceanic whitetip shark is grayish bronze to brown dorsally, varying depending on geographical location. The underside is white. The white tips on the fins are more pronounced in younger individuals and fade with age.
